Keep Livin’ - Jean Grae

My brother handed me my first Jean Grae CD when I was just four feet tall. I put it down for a while, but I’m glad it’s there to pick up again on days like today when I need that inspiration to keep livin’

For all my niggas smoke a pack a day
For all my niggas hold the bottle, drink the pain away
What type of life is this?

For all my niggas gettin’ the cash
And all my niggas who chill on the ave’
Let’s keep livin’

Drink to Get Drunk - Sia

Remember when I said I was thinking about changing the focus of this blog to bad bitches? Sia is the baddest bitch. Pop stars who don’t write their own songs? Sia writes them. The Australian born songstress has collaborated with Christina Aguilera, Hilltop Hoods, David Guetta, Flo Rida, Afrojack, Shakira and Rihanna to name a few. You’ve heard her work before, now listen to what happens when she puts her name to a track.

A Little Party Never Killed Nobody - Fergie, Q-Tip & GoonRock

A little teaser from the soundtrack of upcoming film The Great Gatsby, which is being scored (to my great excitement) by Jay-Z. I’m pleased to hear Q-Tip, a long time apartment favourite, included on this track.

The Great Gatsby will be in cinemas as of May 16.

Yung Rapunxel - Azealia Banks

Official video. Presented without comment.

I’m considering changing the focus of this blog to bad bitches.

NYC Bitche$ - Awkwafina

Remember when Awkwafina came out of nowhere with her parody of Micky Avolon’s ‘My Dick’? I wanted more, and she delivered. NYC Bitche$ is proof that yes, Awkwafina can rap and no, she wont stop cracking jokes. Check out ‘Peggy Bundy’ and ‘Yellow Ranger’ if you’re still hungry.

I just stole your iPad and now Imma sell it to buy more live chickens

Work - Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea has spent the last two years showing the world just how we do it here in Australia. Watch her holdin’ it down with real rhymes, real heart and real cake in this brand new video for Work, available on iTunes as of today.

Bow Down (I Been On) - Beyonce

I have a huge backlog of tracks to share with you guys, including the bass-heavy Bow Down. The whole arrangement is, for lack of a better word, pretty trendy. I’m never one to shy away from bass or from a good slow jam, but I’d love to hear more of that boss vocal from Queen B.

Enough talk, turn your speakers up.

Azealia Banks – Yung Rapunxel (49 plays)

Yung Rapunxel - Azealia Banks

Just in case you missed it while sifting through the news of Azealia’s latest beef, here’s her latest track Yung Rapunxel, pegged to appear on the upcoming LP Broke With Expensive Taste.  I’m hearing some recognisable shades of Fantasea and the same Azealia flow that we know and love, but this is a higher energy (read: more agressive) track than we’ve heard from the Harlem songstress in the past.

A word to the wise: You must listen to this track with some good quality speakers or headphones. It makes all the difference.
